Do you remember when that RARE logo actually meant something? Well if this rumor is to be believed, then so does Nintendo. The rumor suggest that Nintendo not only wants to buy back RARE but with the purpose to get Banjo Kazooie back in action. Take a look at the details:
"Nintendo is in direct negotiations with Microsoft to buy RARE, though the purpose of buying them seems to be all based around getting the rights to Banjo and Kazooie. Of course, we can’t forget the other key franchises Nintendo gets with the acquisition. Conker’s Bad Fur Day may have been shunned by Nintendo, but a sequel to that game should be embraced by the Nintendo brass if they want the Wii U to really be for everyone. Of course, this rumor doesn’t stop there - it goes as far as to suggest that Retro Studios is actually deep into development on a Banjo and Kazooie title, and that the talks with Microsoft have been ongoing for some time."

Now if this were true, would this be good news or not so good news? Rare hasn't really done much of anything for Microsoft and even though Microsoft is just as much to blame as Rare is, I'm not sure it would be a good move on Nintendo's part to re-buy the company right now when they are in the middle of spending a lot of money trying to get the Wii U launched this holiday. If the re-purchase does happen, one good thing that would come out of it might be Nintendo pushing Rare harder to make sequels to Perfect Dark, Killer Instinct, Conker, Banjo Kazooie (if Retro isn't making it already), Kameo and even classics like Battletoads. What about finally getting the original Goldeneye in HD?
These are all nice thoughts, but many things have to happen first before we can even start considering this rumor as true.
